The festival of Taragalte

Taragalte is a 3-day festival under the stars of the desert, in southern Morocco. During the festival, we celebrate culture, nomadic heritage and world music.

It is a question of reviving the “Moussem”; (ancient traditional festival) which, not so long ago, celebrated the departures and returns of the large caravans that criss-crossed the Sahara between M’Hamid and Timbuktu. The role of these caravans was not only a commercial objective, but also a crucial one in developing cultural exchanges between peoples.

We offer you a program during the festival of Taragalte which will take place at the end of October or the beginning of November 2023 in the desert of M’Hamid.
This schedule can be adapted to your desires, both with regard to the dates of arrival and departure as to its contents.
– Arrival in M’Hamid on Thursday (start of our services)
– Typical welcome dinner at the Aladdin Kasbah
– From Friday to Monday:
During the 3 days of the festival you will stay in the Kasbah Aladdin, which is located in the old village of M’Hamid, near the festival site which takes place in the desert (about 30 min on foot, with access also by 4×4, touktouk, dromedary…)
Half-board accommodation.
– Monday
Departure in 4×4 to our fixed bivouac in the heart of the desert at the foot of the big dunes of Chegaga.
Bed and breakfast in our bungalows/tent and private bath in full board during 2 days.
You will have, on the program, a dromedary ride on the dunes, encounters with nomads, contemplation of sunsets and sunrises on the sandy sea, typical meals and animations with traditional songs around the fire, meditation spaces…
– Wednesday
After breakfast return to M’Hamid (End of our services)

• Transfer to and from M’Hamid/Chegaga by 4×4
